PhotoFiltre Photo Touch-Up and White Balance Tutorial
Updates:
My latest tutorial was a request and a very fun tutorial to do for me. I always loved the effect of black and
white infrared photography, and for that matter black and white photography so when I was asked to try and recreate the infrared effect I jumped right on it.
You can see that tutorial here.
We've all wound up with Photos like the one above on the left. We download them from our digital cameras, open them up and that
great image we remember taking has an ugly muted blue cast to it. We certainly don't remember that bluish cast when we took our
photo. Without getting too technical the result has more to do with the properties of light and less to do with your picture
taking capabilities so fear not. Your camera isn't broken and your picture taking skills are not as bad as you think. With
the help of PhotoFiltre we'll return our image pretty close to the way we first envisioned it. In some instances with a little
creativity even better.
Before we get started you'll need three things. Naturally a copy of Photo Filtre, a copy of the image above
(Just Right Click and copy and then paste into PhotoFiltre) and then a great little Plug-In from Alain called White Balance. You
can download it here.
Once you download the Plug-In, close PhotoFiltre and then unzip the plug-in to your PhotoFiltre/Plugins folder. When you reopen
PhotoFiltre you can access the Plug-In from the Filter/Plug-in menu or add it to the Filters Toolbar and access it from there.
I must say one more thing before we start. The procedures and settings I give here are just a guide to get you started and
show you some techniques. A lot of Photo manipulation is a matter of taste. What looks good to me may not to you. My
vision or dream of an image is mine and may be completely different from yours. So do these tutorials, learn some techniques and
then explore your own feelings about the image and experiment. Enough Rambling now on to the tutorial.
