My latest tutorial was a request and a very fun tutorial to do for me.  I always loved the effect of black and white infrared photography, and for that matter black and white photography so when I was asked to try and recreate the infrared effect I jumped right on it.  You can see that tutorial here.

1)  Open a new image 360 x 90.

2)  Select the Text Tool and Type in some Text. 

     Font = 40
     Transform to Selection

3)  Menu = Selection / Copy Shape

4)  Move the text to the bottom right about 15 pixels up and 15 pixels from the right.

5)  Menu = Filter / Color / Color Layer

     Color = Black
     Opacity = 50%

6)  Menu = Selection / Hide Selection or Just choose the Hide Selection Button

7)  Choose the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle 315 x 70 pixels over your text.

8)  Menu = Visual effect / Gaussian Blur

     Radius = 4

9)  Menu = Selection / Paste Shape.  Now just move the new text selection to where you want it and then fill it with a color or pattern of your choice.
