We are going to take a break and create something fun.  Here is a real simple way to create a star field background for your banner.  To complete this tutorial you will need the free PhotoFiltre Lens Effect Filter available on the PhotoFiltre web site. Starfield
1)  Menu = File / New

     Width = 800 Pixels
     Height = 600 Pixels
     Background = White

2)  Menu = Filter / Noise / Add Noise

     Amount = 100
     Uniform = Checked

3)  Menu = Adjust / Duotone

     Color 1 = White
     Color 2 = Black
     Threshold = 204

4)  Menu = Filter / Plug-in / Lens Effect

     Select Cone
     Hit the Center Button
     Positive Gain = Checked
     Square = Checked
     Diameter = 800
     Gain = 2.6

5)  Menu = Filter / Visual Effect / Fog / White

6)  Menu = Filter / Repeat Fog

7)  Menu = Edit / Fade Fog

     Opacity = 40%

8)  Right Click your star field layer in the layers palette and select Duplicate

9)  Select the Top Layer (Layer 1)

10) Menu = Filter / Deform / Twirl

      Clockwise = Checked
      Amount = 40

11) Menu = Layer / Transparent Gradient / Radial

12) Menu = Edit / Fade Transparent Gradient

      Opacity = 80

13) Right Click on Layer 1 and select Merge with previous layer.

14) Menu = Layer / New / Color

      Opacity = 15%
      Inverted = Checked
      Color = RGB 255,204,0

15) Right Click Layer 2 (Your Color Layer) and select merge with previous layer

16) Now just use your Rectangle Selection Tool, draw a 450 pixel wide x 100 pixel high rectangle and move it around until you find something you like for your banner background

17) Menu = Edit / Copy

18) Menu = Paste as new image

Now just add some planets or text and you are on your way
