18) Hit the Hide Selection Button (Shown Left)

19) Select Layer 1 in the Layers Palette

20) Select the Elipse Selection Tool and draw a 150 wide x 80 high oval like mine below.

22) Menu = Edit / Paste

23) Select the Layers Management Button and then move your new layer to the position I have above.

      Style = Duotone
      Direction = Top to bottom
     
      Color 1 = Use the Eye Dropper and select the blue area just above the white selection in the center
      Opacity = 100%

      Color 2 =  White
      Opacity = 100%

26) Double click on this layer (Layer 3) in the layers palette and set the opacity to 80%.

To the right is a small version of what I have so far.

  27) Select the Background Layer in the layers Palette.

28) Draw a 320 x 320 Circle.  (Remember to use the Shift Key for a perfect Circle.)

29) Menu = Selection / Center / Image Center

30) Menu = Edit / Copy

31) Menu = Edit / Paste

32) Menu = Selection / Select Layer

33)  Menu = Filter / Color / Gradient

      Style = Duotone
      Direction = Top to bottom
     
      Color 1 = RGB 51,51,51
      Opacity = 100%

      Color 2 =  RGB 192,192,192
      Opacity = 100%

To the right is a small version of what I have to this point.

 

Glass Orb
Layers Palette We are going to add one final touch to our inset.  A shadow from the button above.

34) Select Layer 1 (Our Large Button Piece)

35) Menu = Selection / Select Layer

36) Select Layer 4 (our Inset Layer see my image to the left for layer 4)

37) Menu = Selection / Contract

      Width = 4

38) Menu = Filter / Stylize / Progressive Contour

      Width = 6
      Color = Black
      Outside = Checked
      Blur = Checked
      Opacity = 70%

39) Right Click Layer 3 (See mine to the left) and select Merge with previous layer

40) Right Click Layer 2 and select Merge with previous layer

      Width = 4
      Color = RGB 0,0,128
      Blur = Checked
      Opacity = 70%

Below is my finished Orb

Now just resize it to the size you want.  Use the zoom tool and you will see the button looks great at 50 or 33%.
