The above text effect is a nice look and is a good introduction to some of the Layers Features of PhotoFiltre
Studio. |
|
 |
| |
1) Open up a new image: Dimensions = 640 x 480 Pixels
Background Color = RGB 128,128,128
2) Select the Text Tool, Type in PhotoFiltre:
Font = Comics Sans
Size = 72
Bold = Checked
Color = White
Now hit the OK Button. Your Image should look like mine above.
If you look in your Layers Palette you'll now see a new text layer like mine to the right. |
 |
 |
 |
3) Select Layer 1 (Your Text Layer) in the Layers Palette:
Menu = Layer / Convert Text to Image Layer
Your Text Layer in the Layers Palette will now change to Text with a Transparent Background like mine to the left.
4) Menu = Selection / Select Layer
You should have a selection like mine in the image above. |
|
 |
| |
5) Menu = Filter / Color / Gradient: Style = Duotone
Direction = Top to Bottom
Color 1 = White
Opacity = 100%
Color 2 = Black
Opacity = 100%
6) Menu = Edit / Stroke and Fill
Stroke = Checked
Color = Black
Width = 3
Fill = Un-Checked |
|
 |
| |
7) Double Click on Layer 1 (Your Text Layer) in the Layers Palette.
A new Window will Open, use the following settings:
Drop Shadow = Checked
X = 5
Y = 5
Color = Black
Opacity = 70%
(There are 2 opacity settings. we want the one in the drop shadow setting)
Antialiased = Checked |
 |
 |
 |
8) Select Layer 1 in the Layers Palette 9) Menu = Layer / New / Color:
Color = Black
Inverted = Checked
Opacity = 60%
(Play with different opacity settings to get the look you want for your text. don't worry about the background changing color we will
take care of that in a moment. If you notice changing the opacity will increase or decrease the shininess of your text. |
|
 |
 |
If you look in your Layers Palette you will now see the new color layer we added like mine to the left.
10) Select Layer 2 (The Color Layer) in the Layers Palette and Right Click your mouse. Now select Merge with previous layer.
Notice the background returned to the original color. This is because merging the color layer with the text layer applied the color
layers effect to the text layer only. If we did not do this the effect would be applied to all the layers under it.
One more thing happened when we merged our layers. We lost our Drop Shadow. Just do Step 7 again for the drop shadow.
I could have waited to the end before applying the drop shadow but I wanted to see how my text was progressing. |
